Festningsholmen close to Akerøya, Hvalerøyene, Østfold. You need a boat to get here. Thats why we choose a 5 for the terrain difficulty. Altitude 10 meters above sea level.
The cache is a plastic box containing the usual geocache stuff such as logbook, pencil and sharpener, pins, coins, cars, a teddy bear, 2 boats, and a Pentium IV 166 CPU among other items.
Festningsholmen is an ancient small fortress in the Oslofjord, used by Commander Peter Wessel as a combat harbour before he went over to Bohuslän to beat the Swedes.
Peter Wessel was knighted by the Danish King at the age of 25, and thereby got the name Tordenskjold. He is the ever youngest admiral of the norwegian military history. He died in a duel concerning a lady - only 30 years old.
You will have a very nice view over the Norwegian and Swedish archipelago from this historical point.
Take a trip around this fortress and imagine how the soldiers lived here during wintertime 300 years ago...
