Available ONLY by water. Seasonal cache.

At this site on August 31, 1142, five warring nations (Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca) came together in unity and formed The Iroquois Confederacy (haudenosaunee = People of the Longhouse). The US Constitution was largly derived from The Great Law of Peace. haudenosaunee is the oldest republic on the planet.

You may travel via the NYS Barge Canal System. Be advised: For larger craft, the trailhead is slightly away from the main channel. If launching a boat or canoe, there is a Kwanis free public launch at:

N42 50.797 W074 00.868. Nice place for a picnic. Bring your fishing pole! This is a very pleasant scenic trip. Round trip by canoe was 2.7 miles.

Important: Trailhead is at N42 50.397 W07359.895 You will see red paint marking the spot. (We didn't do the marking.) The cache is in a way and very well hidden. Terrain is a 5 because the site is only accessable by water.

Little trouble with bugs but spray is advised. Some poison ivy spotted in the vicinity. It is advisable to wear long pants and shoes. Decode the hints, you'll really need them.
