This is the third of four planned geocaches we would like to place in the Gallatin Canyon. Moose Creek is a very popular summer camping, logging and hunting area. Its roads and trails go for many miles. Please be careful in traveling these roads and trails. Both for the land and for yourself. Some of the trails start out traversible and then peter out to nothing, sometimes with no turnaround area.
A good place to park for this cache is N45 20.705 - W111 07.622. During your walk in you will see wonderful cross sections of mountain scenery, plantlife and geology.
Cache is an ammo can at the base of a prominent Fir tree covered by bark. With the clues it may be possible to do this cache in the winter. One would have to dig down thru the snow to the base of said tree.
Enjoy the amazing vista from this cache and during the rest of July 03, watch out for an interesting helicopter logging operation off to the east of the cache site.
