This cache resides in the Walbler Vista section of the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. Since it is in a preserve, there is one overriding rule. STAY ON THE PUBLIC, MARKED TRAIL AT ALL TIMES. Starting from the main trailhead, there is no reason to leave the trail EVER. If I find anyone off trail I will delete the log ASAP.
Now, this trail includes an interpretive trail guide that you will need to answer the cache question. Be sure to pick one up at the parking area.
To log the cache, you'll have to answer a question based on the interpretive trail signs. At the location of this virtual cache, there is a trail marker. The interpretive trail guide states that the species that grows here provides "prime habitat for the endangered Black-capped Vireo." What two words comprise the name of this species?
You can quickly auto confirm your find by visiting the following web page:
Confirm Walk With Warblers
If the auto-confirm page does not work you can email your answer to me BEFORE you log the cache.
To get to the parking area, take FM 1431 to just outside Lago Vista. There is a sign along the road marking the entrance. Drive up the hill on the gravel road for .75 miles to get to the parking area. Look for the display panel that contains trail guides.
BTW, the guide markers here are the nicest I have seen anywhere.
Logs that are not verified either through email or via the website will be deleted. Verification is is not optional and is not complete until you receive a confirmation of your answer. There is no need to send an email if you obtain automated verification. The system will alert the cache owner.
Are you the owner of a virtual cache that could use an automated answer checking system? Shoot me a message and I'll get you set up!
