The Haunted Boy Scout Camp Traditional Cache
JOEK: Joek and maddog
We are sad to lose this one, but the Park Cache Police removed it and told us to go and sin no more. No trails here, and too much temptation for vandals.
Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

O.K., so it isn't haunted. But it is pretty spooky. We found this place a couple of years ago before we started caching, and always wanted to come back. But, the walk is uphill, and maddog complains a lot about that. When Outdoors Lady placed her cache in the neighborhood, apparently unaware of the camp, we had to do it. It is also to commemorate our 200th find.
Started off easily enough- till joek realized he didn't have the gps. Back down the hill for him.
Found the remains of the camp, and enjoyed finding a good hiding place. As we left, ran into a friendly forest ranger, dispatched to find out who had parked in the pulloff between Rt. 17 and 106 Junction and the Red Apple Rest. It is NOT marked no parking, and there are NO signs saying don't enter the trail, so park there if you dare. An alternate is the aforementioned junction, or the Red Apple Rest parking lot. Note: The cache, trail, and parking area ARE on state park land.
Apparently there has been trouble with vandals who set fire to one of the cabins last year. Once he saw us, he figured we were not firebugs, and allowed us to continue on our way to Feral Feline.
Amazingly, not far from Feral Feline, we found more cabins. This must have been some camp! We disturbed a long black snake across the trail to one of the cabins, then bushwhacked the rest of the way to Feral Feline, which is .35 miles away from ours. Not an easy bushwhack, took around 45 minutes.
Returning from Feral Feline, we found the trail leading back to our cache, and the hollow log maddog sat on waiting for joek to come back with the gps. Happily tooled on down the trail to the car, found no ticket on it, and went home happy "campers."
IMPORTANT NOTE: NO BUSHWHACK INVOLVED TO GET TO BOY SCOUT CAMP- TRAIL LEADS UP FROM ROUTE 17. IF YOU WANT TO GET BOTH CACHES AND NOT BUSHWHACK, YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER MAKING TWO TRIPS TO THIS INTERESTING AREA.
