Geocache Description:

The above coordinates is for the parking area where you will begin your hunt. This is a multi that ends with a micro. Bring along a calculator and pen/pencil.

The following is an excerpt from “FROM BRIDGE TO BRIDGE – THE CIVIL WAR IN EAST TN” pamphlet:

The Hamblen County Court chartered this cemetery in 1873, with five acres set aside for “pauper plots”. In 1884 a group of prominent citizens incorporated the Morristown Cemetery Company “for the purpose of a public cemetery or burying ground for the use of the people of said town and vicinity”. Nine graves of soliders from the Civil War can also be found. Among the better known of the Confederate dead are Captain J.C. Hodges of the 19th Tennessee Infantry (who later became a state senator). Throughout the War the high ground of the Cemetery and nearby hills were used as picket posts, campgrounds, and gun emplacements by both Confederate and Federal armies. The Cemetery was restored in the mid-1990’s.

Got enough history? Let’s get this show on the road!

Next you will need to venture to the log cabin on the grounds and retrieve the useful information to get you to the cache coordinates. On the front of the cabin itself is a plaque with some information on it. You will notice an individuals name on here that is one of the original founders of Hamblen County. It will also tell you a date in which it was founded. This year will serve as answer ABCD in the following formula:
Example: if the year was 2003 then A=2, B=0, C=0, D=3
Use the formula below to get you to the final set of coordinates where the cache is hidden:
STEP 1:
1. A * 350 = E
2. E / 10 = F
3. F – 28 = G
STEP 2:
1. B SQUARED = H
2. H / 8 = I
3. I – 5 = J
STEP 3:
1. C * 100 = K
2. K / 7 = L
3. L – 100 = M
STEP 4:
1. D + 160 = N
2. N – 200 = O
3. 0 + 46 = P
Now that you have the answers above, plug them into the following coordinates to find the cache location:

N36º13.2 "G" "J" W083º17.3 "M" "P"

The cache is well hidden within the area so please put it back in the original location when finished signing the log. It is hidden in a small container but not a 35mm canister. You could exchange small trinkets but the only thing was included at placement were a geocache note and a sheet of paper to log your name and date of visit.

Enjoy your hunt and hope you enjoy one of Morristown’s historic sites!

NOTE: ON 10/6/03 I CHANGED THE REQUIREMENTS FOR GETTING CREDIT FOR THIS CACHE. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIND ANY PARTICULAR GRAVE AND EMAIL ME THE FINDING. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO NOW IS JUST ALL OF THE ABOVE AND SIGN AND DATE THE LOG. GOOD LUCK!
