Scenic Mississippi North Multi-Cache
de zoeker: Unfortunately this long time cache is being retired. Human activity in two of the relevant neighbourhoods made tweaks necessary and this Geocaching website and or "Shadow Cache" wouldn't accommodate it.

This is what I would call a scenic tour multi-cache. The four caches are strung, in order, along a 29 kilometre stretch of the Mississippi River.
Background:
Having grown up along the banks of this river I figured my first cache should highlight some of my favourite spots. Whether you are local and know the area or you are a visitor this tour offers a good excuse to enjoy scenic views, early settlement achievements and ruins, wildlife, good eats and treats and antiquing along the way.
You can follow Highway 15 which runs southwest of the river to get to all of these places but I like the more scenic, quiet network of paved secondary roads along the northeast side better. Each cache is about half an hour or less apart by bike if you are up to it. These are all great picnic spots.
You won’t have to bushwhack or even travel too far from your car to find these.
Each waypoint involves finding numbers on very nearby signs or buildings in order to calculate the coordinates for the next stop.
The clues
Waypoint One:
Use the coordinates posted above to locate the first site.
Waypoint Two:
To find the coordinates for the second site read the sign at the first site. Subtract the last four digits of the telephone number on the danger sign close by from the minutes of each of the following coordinates. N45 degrees 16.087 and W 076 degrees 14.447
Waypoint Three:
To find the coordinates for the third site locate the white/grey building north (not the stone building to the east) of the second site. Subtract the year this building was erected (which you will find on the front of the building, do not use the number on the side of the building) from the minutes of each of the following coordinates. N45degrees 18.044 and W 076degrees 16.861
Site Four:
To find the final coordinates locate the structure just south east of site three. You will need the two digit number from the sign on either end of this structure. Multiply this number by 1000. Subtract the product from the minutes of each of the following coordinates. N45degrees 32.151 and W076degrees 29.245
Parking
Cache One: Park anywhere along the road on the north side of the river and go for it.
Cache Two: Park anywhere along the main street and you’ll get there.
Cache Three: There is a parking lot at N 45° 16.046 and W 076° 15.048
Cache Four: Park northwest of the river in the lot beside Highway 15.
Warning
Just a little warning. None of these sites are dangerous but they are all along a river and so there are areas that can be dangerous especially in winter and during the spring run off. Read posted signs and follow the advice and of course use your own good common sense. The cache site at location four is safe in all seasons but very fast and/or cold running water is near at hand during some times of the year, approach with caution and don‘t let the kids run ahead.
