The autumnal equinox marks the passage of summer into autumn. Come join us for a one-day event at 10 AM on September 27 at the Orlando Wetlands Park and the adjacent Seminole Ranch Conservation Area. We'll have activities for every cacher, young and old. Bring any travel bugs that want to make new friends. Bring your signature items or other trinkets to help make some new caches that will be awarded as door prizes and used to create a new cache that will be left on-site as a reminder of the fun. We'll try to have some other goodies - feel free to bring trade items.
Some of the events for the day:
* Poker run
* Team multi-cache
* Team compass speed cache - bring your compass
* Wildlife photo contest - bring your digital cameras
* Speed multi-cache
* Creative container demonstration - bring your favorite and help us paint some camo ammo cans
* Clinic/demo on GPSr usage and navigation
* Maximum speed run
* Croquet, horseshoes, and/or volleyball
* Presentation by the site manager about the wetlands
* Name that cacher - see how much you know (and don't know) about your compatriots
* Geocaching trivia quiz
Facilities at the Wetlands Park include a covered pavilion, restrooms, water fountain (on-site well), and BBQ grills. Team Orlando will provide the fire - bring your own food and plenty of water for the forays into the nearby Conservation Area. Bug spray may be a necessity for portions of the property! It looks as if we can expect a rather warm and moderately humid day. Bring your bikes. Bring your FRS radios. Horses are welcome at the Wetlands Park but you need to leave your dogs at home this time.
For those of you who haven't had a chance to find the highly exalted Key To The Wetlands cache, we'll even give you a straight shot at it before it is disabled for the winter!
There is a great playground for the younger set located nearby at Fort Christmas Park. And don't forget to check out all the nearby caches if you haven't already logged them, especially the masterful Tiptoeing Through The Cow Pies!
