There are several trails which will lead you to the cache. The shorter hike starts in Townsend at a gate on Route 119 directly across from the Willard Brook State Forest headquarters (42 40.399 71 46.352), while a longer hike starts in the Ashby end of the forest near Damon Pond. (42 39.727 71 47.448) Be advised that there is a parking fee near Damon Pond during the summer months, but there are many picnic areas to park at along the brook for no charge.
The cache is in an ammo box located not far off the trail. Very little bushwhacking is necessary.
If you have time, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the area. Willard Brook State Forest has miles of trails for hiking as well as a campground, swimming, fishing, etc.
