WGA2: Hello,

Recently we were contacted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources regarding your cache. It turns out that your cache is inside of the Bayshore Blufflands State Natural Area (SNA). http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/er/sna/sna377.htm
Per the DNR policy http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/other/geocache.html, geocaches are not allowed in State Natural Areas. In the past geocaches were allowed into SNAs if they were placed prior to the DNR prohibiting them or if there were some extenuating circumstances. Unfortunately, the DNR is now insisting that all geocaches inside of SNAs need to be removed regardless of the circumstances.

I would like to thank you for your contribution to geocaching, and for bringing people to this special place. It has been a good run.

At your earliest convenience, please remove this geocache from the SNA.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the e-mail address below.

Thanks,

Geocache Description:

Located on the Niagara Escarpment in the Bayshore Blufflands Preserve (Door County Land Trust), accessible on hiking trails, with some hills. "This cache has been placed with concurrance of Dan Burke, Executive Director of the Door County Land Trust. The Door County Land Trust is the owner and manager of the Blufflands Preserve."

This cache is accessible from two different trailheads in the Bayshore Blufflands Preserve. The trailhead on Bayshore Drive (west side of the preserve) is located at N44 56.089 W87 23.433, and the trailhead on Reynolds Road (east side of the preserve) is located at N44 56.281 W87 22.118. Parking is available at both locations during the non-snow months. Winter time parking is on the roadside. Trails are maintained during the warm season, in winter conditions are weather dependent(ski, snowshoe or walk). The cache is located 0.51 miles from the Reynolds Rd trailhead, and 0.59 miles from the Bayshore Drive trailhead. The Reynolds Road trail has a short hill (difficulty 2), but coming in from the Bayshore Drive side will require a long uphill climb to the top of the Niagara Escarpment (difficulty 3).

The cache is placed in a small Army Green ammunition box, and is located 40 feet from the trail (Bayshore Drive trailhead) or 75 feet from the trail (Reynolds Road trailhead). The "theme" is hiking/camping. At the time of placement the cache contained the following:
- plastic signal whistle
- No-See-Um net
- disposable poncho
- blue icepac (rigid)
- Blue icepac (flexible)
- Deep Woods Off (plastic spray bottle)
- Hothand2 hand-warmer packet
- 4 hand crafted blacksmith hooks for camp use
- log book

Bikes and motorized vehicles are not allowed. Dogs are permitted if leashed at all times. Courtesy rules are posted on the Kiosk at the Reynolds Road trailhead.
