Tuttle Creek ORV Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Michael: The Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek Lake, Kansas recently learned of an incident regarding a geocache found by an innocent member of the public, who was concerned enough about an ammo can stashed in a public park to alert law enforcement officials. We therefore reviewed the inventory of sites at Tuttle Creek Lake, and we have concerns with four:
1. It's Our Fault, GC92AC: situated in a hazardous area, in an ammo can.
2. Stockdale View, GCKBPP: ammo can
3. Old Tuttle Road, GCN5QD: blackened container
4. Tuttle Creek ORV, GCGN1R: ammo can.
Corps policy mandates that caches be preapproved by the agency. Containers must be transparent, and cannot be placed in potentially hazardous locales. We would request that these caches be removed and the owners get in contact with us. Thank you.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located on a hill, deep into the ORV section of the Tuttle Creek ORV Park.

You are looking for a camo painted ammo-can. The container originally contained three ink pens, a logbook, and a couple of Army trucks. Two Corvettes were left to make up for lost time on your searches. There was also a Where's George Dollar and we hope a great time for all that decide to visit.

If you have a 4X4 pickup, you may have have a chance of getting up here. The trails are pretty rough. Rocks and trees will inhibit your advances. You may have to cross a creek, it was almost dry today. We drove in and out of this area with the Baby Rattler, but we have a few marks to remember the park by. You might check out some of the photos. A friend with a four wheeler thinks we are crazy and no longer believes a four wheeler can go anyplace a pickup with locking differentials at both ends can go. We aired down the tires to conform to the rocks and had a blast.

I would not recommend trying this on a motorcycle, the boulders are huge and the rocks are loose. It looks like a great opportunity to lose some hide.

We hiked around a little to take photos and can tell you from experience, you will earn this cache on foot! Rex is smiling and laughing about that line as he reads the cache log.

On 9-19-2004 we replaced the pickle jar with an ammocan and put in two ink pens and a bunch of toys, some 4X4 trucks in fact for the youngsters in your group.
