Geocache Description:

Take a step back in time and experience the majesty of the Paletta Mansion, circa 1930, set on a 6.4 hectare estate. Purchased by the City in 1990, this picturesque park with mature trees is located on the south side of Lakeshore Road, between Appleby and Walkers Line. It has been called the "Jewel in the Crown" of the Burlington Waterfront.

The coordinates above are NOT the coordinates to the actual cache! They will take you to the first of six stops at which you must gain enough information to figure out the location of the final cache.

The cache is located at:
N43d 21.ABC
W079d 45.DEF

A...
... Go to the orientation centre at N43 21.203 W079 45.237 (If it's closed, see the hints). Laura Secord was awarded this land in 1806. She turned it down because she was married and living in Niagara. Good thing, because in 1813 she made her XY km trek to warn Lt James Fitzgibbon of the impending American attack. Of course, X minus Y = A.

Also of interest - Cyrus Birge had a small screw company in Dundas, and he moved it to Hamilton after a dispute with the mayor over a $50 sewer bill. Much to the chagrin of the Dundas mayor, this company eventually became the Steel Company of Canada - STELCO. Cyrus bought this land 2 years later, in 1912, to enable him to watch over his business from his home! His daughter built the mansion with the inheritance when he died in 1929.

B...
... Continue on to N43 21.161 W079 45.230. The yo-yo was introduced in 192B.

C...
... Walk to N43 21.128 W079 45.171. When the Skyway bridge opened in 1958, the toll was XY cents, and Y minus X = C

D...
... Picture Dorothy enjoying a walk along the river in 193D, here at N43 21.159 W079 45.092.

E...
... At N43 21.215 W079 45.108, the bird in the top right has X syllables in it's full name. X minus 1 = E.

F...
... The final stop is N43 21.256 W079 45.168. Wood ducks usually build nests at 1 to XY metres above the ground, and X plus Y = F.

Now, take all of your answers and substitute them with the letters above, and you should be on the way to the final cache!

We hope that you have fun, and learn something along the way!
