Geocache Description:

Overhall Grove is the site of a medieval moated manor house and makes for a very pleasant, cool and peaceful woodland stroll on a summers evening.

The cache (a medium size ammo-box) is hidden in a pile of old logs about 15ft due south of the given coords which are approx 120ft from a public footpath.

You'll only be 'bushwacking' for the short final approach to the cache and may have tree-cover problems in summer, although I had a clear signal at the cache-site itself - (and had no trouble finding it in the first-place) - Take a bearing before leaving the path and you should find it quite easily.

You're looking for a brick arch and a rust-coloured stream that flows downhill and away from you. Known as 'the Red Well' it's an iron-rich or Chalybeate (pronounced ka-LIB-e-at) spring that used to be the water supply for the old manor house, and for centuries was visited by those wishing to 'strengthen the blood' - hmmnnn... I wouldn't fancy drinking from it now!

There is an information board at N52 15.030 W0 02.530 which gives some history of the site and a badger viewing platform at the edge of the old moat N52 15.075 W0 02.321 (best times between 7pm and 10pm)

There's also a web-page describing a walk through the area (slight spoiler) HERE
