This easily accessed Geocache is located in the Knights Valley Cemetery. Please park on the road (cemetery is on the North side of the road -so park accordingly) Please do not trespass outside the cemetery fence as that is Private Property. If you bring your dog, please use a leash. No grave plots will need to be disturbed and no bushwhacking to find this cache. Please be respectful of the families by not treading on graves. While this is a rural cemetery, it is still used by local families- including ours.
There are two gates to enter this cemetery. One is a green metal gate with a padlock -don't climb over this gate. If you walk to coords N 38º 38.166 W 122º 40.840, you will find the UNlocked proper entry to this site.(see the photo of gate)
This is an interesting little place. This was once the town of Kellogg. Several fires in the 1960's burned what was left of this town.
Notice the uniqueness of some of the markers- which have a little of the personality of the resting ones. Also notice the wooden ones. When I (Huntnlady) started coming here in 2003, you could still read some of the painted names and dates on these- all from the 1800's! It's a shame these have faded until they are no longer readable. :-(
There is Poison oak if you venture off the paths. Stay on the paths and you should be fine. Signals get weaker as you get deeper into this cemetery. As you enter, there is a nice open space to get a stronger signal. Good Luck!
