This park offers a quick outdoor adventure only minutes from Historic Downtown Fredericksburg. Be sure to check out the cliffs near N 38 17.273 W 77 29.009. These cliffs are a coarse-grained sedimentary rock dating back more than 65 million years. The rocks contain fossil molds of tree limbs, which indicate that the rocks were once part of a stream system with much debris on the banks. This is a popular spot for local climbers.
This park can be busy at times, so be sure to re-hide the cache well. As in many off trail caches, watch out for ivy, bugs, and snakes.
I have bumped the terrain rating to a 3 because your trek may involve a creek crossing and steep slopes depending on your approach. Please cache safely and use common sense.
CACHE UPDATE 12-5-03: I dried out the cache today (it had some raindrops in it). I also restocked with assorted toys and some gems.
