In the days before the existence of GPS technology mariners determined their location by using celestial navigation techniques. One of the techniques used to determine longitude was to use “Local Noons”. This technique required the use of a sextant and an accurate chronometer. The sextant was used to measure when the sun reached it highest point and the time was accurately recorded. Using this time it is possible to calculate your longitude when this time is compared to a known location most often the Prime Meridian.
The coordinates listed above are where I ate lunch on Thursday. I was fishing and I ate lunch right at the Local Noon. Friday I was fishing at another location (in Fort Bend County) and ate lunch at the Local Noon surprisingly at the same Latitude but it was 3 minutes 45.216 seconds later. (I have a really accurate watch) I hid the cache where I ate on Friday.
The cache is a standard micro (like a chapstick container). It contains a log sheet and nothing else! Please rehide carefully to prevent casual spotting. It is near the parking lot of a nice park.
