White Sand Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RayQix: After much soul-searching on this one.... and considering the clean-up of databases thats being done in Groundspeak, i am going to let this one go.

IF anyone ever wants to get a cache in this spot.... have-at.

The history of this particular place proves that the party-people keep pillaging the cache and that it's not going to stay, no matter what we do.

Thanks for supporting this one...

Happy Hunting.

Geocache Description:

To find this cache, you will need to visit the now-residential island of Bob-Lo in the Detroit River.  Bob-Lo was once an amusement park for all ages and some of the remains of the park are still visible in many places around the island.

Access to the island is by Ferry from Amherstburg, Ontario or by Boat.  Ferry cost is approx $6.00 (9/2012).

The cache itself is almost at the southern-most tip of the island, just northwest of the Bois Blanc Island Lighthouse.  You will be able to hike to this area via a marked trail (sometimes overgrown) with closest parking known to be near the Blockhouse (approx 1.5 miles north).

The nice walking trail terrain is mainly sandy, sometimes overgrown, turning rocky near the cache site and this may be much more challenging in Winter.

If you choose to swim here, please note that this is at your own risk as there is NO lifeguard on duty.

Good Luck and please respect the area and the "residents" (deer and other animals) that are here year-round.

This cache was originally placed by Team 35th Tecumseh Rovers on Sept 4, 2003.
It has since been moved from its original spot and is now here:

N 42° 04.231 W 083° 07.425
... please make a note of it.

Thanks to Norshley (9/2012) for the most recent
upkeep and container replacement.
