Geocache Description:

Located in the San Juan mountains north of Dolores, Colorado in SW Colorado

The area is on a main road going north out of Dolores, Colorado. We were heading to Miramontes Lake to do some fishing. The location is one with an outstanding view of the area and one can see for miles. Deer, elk and other wildlife are in abundance. There are a few residences along the road and some outfitter headquarters for hunters.

The cache is located near a wider expanse of road at the end of a switchback that allows you to pull off the road and park (nothing paved). You will not have to climb up or down more than 20 feet to reach the cache.

The weather may get nasty at any time summer or winter as rains may be frequent. The road is not maintained after October and there may be snow.

The cache is an easy walk from the location you will use to park but more difficult to reach and see. It should take no more than half an hour to find at the extreme and much quicker if you are a regular geocacher.

Note: Cache was reported missing so 8/24/2011 the cache was replace with a small camo'd cache in the coordinates shown above. New clue is "Rocky" There is no log due to size and winter conditions in the area, but there is some small swag to trade.
