Expeditie Robinson is a popular reality television program in the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium) that debuted in 2000. It was the second production worldwide of a format first shown in Swedish TV in 1997. The format, most notable under the title Survivor, has since then also been produced in many other countries. The name of the show alludes to the story of Robinson Crusoe, – a castaway who spends 28 years on a remote tropical desert island.

Malaysia has accommodated the show numerous times, with Pulau Tioman serving 7 times as "Robinson Island". The gorgeous tropical vistas you have seen on TV while watching the various castaway scenes unfold? The stunning blue-green seas and lush emerald jungle the cameras panned across in all their natural multicolor glory over and over? It was all right here on Pulau Tioman!
In fact, the Expeditie Robinson legacy lives on, because Tioman is now affectionately known as "Robinson Island" in Sweden and Holland. And the show, even though set on another island now, still enjoys insanely high tv ratings. And if you know where to look, you might still find a few Expeditie Robinson relics stashed away here and there, left behind on Tioman by the film and production crew and the ever-starving contestants.
So while you're enjoying a hearty fruit-de-mer platter with all the finger-licking trimmings, or sipping your cold brewski by the beach, spare a thought for the hapless souls who, in the company of conniving friends and foes, endured their ever-present hunger pangs and relentless thirst.
Here's to all Expeditie Robinson contestants, past, present and future. And here's to Robinson Island!
How to get to the cache?
To get to this cache, you will first have to arrange a ferry from Mersing, and dock at the ABC jetty. To get to the cache, find the jungle-clad track that leads to Teluk Berus (Monkey beach), it starts at the northern end of ABC. Walk all the way to Bamboo Hill and follow the signs to Monkey Beach.
The canopy can get quite dense, which might weaken the GPS signal, but it should not prevent you from finding the cache. If lucky, you might encounter some monkeys and lizards along the way.
Originally, the cache was hidden at a wooden sign with a strange language on it, it was a Dutch sign that featured in "Expedition Robinson", probably left behind by the camera crew. Behind the sign you will find a big rock that gives shelter to the cache.
