Apeya Pajama Party Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Rices Raiders: Sadly we are going to go ahead and archive this cache. The people I had set up to help us maintain this cache have not been available to do so. Hopefully another geocacher will find a place near by for a new cache, to take people to this nice little area. Many thanks to those to made the trek to visit our cache. Cathy and the Rices Raiders

Geocache Description:

The only reason this cache has a 5 rating on terrain is because you have to use the Ferry to get to the Island.

The Apeya Camp Fire club of Wilsonville Oregon took a vacation to Guemes Island. Some of the Girls were moving on to the next level of Camp Fire(this is a youth club for boys and girls that was established in the early 1900's for Girls. Boys were included back in the late 70's, If memory serves me right.) The older girls thought it would be fun to whisk the new girls away for a weekend of bonding and Camp Fire club activities. So one nice morning in the Summer of 2003 the leaders and older girls set out to "kidnap" the younger girls for the outing. (Of course the parents were in on it.) In the wee hours of the morning the girls were all snatched out of bed, forcing them to travel all the way up the island in their Pajamas! The girls got to travel in comfort and even went geocaching in their pj's. One of the leaders of the group introduced the girls to the hobby of Geocaching. Many of the girls found this to be a fun activity and were happy to place a cache on the Island where we had our great weekend adventure. Our hope is that you will come over and explore this little Island and see beautiful Eagles and dear, like we did. The cache is only about a 1/2 a mile from the ferry landing. You can easily park your car and ride the ferry for a nominal fee and walk to the cache.

This should get you to the Ferry schedule for the Island. It leaves from Anacortes. (visit link)

This Cache will be maintained by the Family who owns the home we stayed at on a regular basis, but for any questions please email Rices Raiders.
