This multicache is in Sewerby Park, with the final cache close to a superb wooden sculpture carved from the base of a tree. A charge is now being made for entry (during the summer months), so either plan to spend several hours here, or if you want to cache-and-dash you may prefer to wait until October.
Sewerby Park is a 50-acre park containing Sewerby Hall, with its formal gardens. The views from the clifftop over Bridlington Bay are spectacular, from Flamborough Head in the North down to Spurn Point in the South.
The gardens have formal walks and terraces contrasting with woodland features. There are many fine trees up to 200 years old - the monkey puzzle trees are reputed to be amongst the oldest in England.
The Old English Garden is well known as a superior example of a typical garden of colourful blooms within the old brick walls, and is adjacent to the Rose Garden.
Other features include a zoo, a tea room, and a children's play area.
Sewerby Hall is open to visitors, and one of its attractions is a Museum in memory of Amy Johnson, the famous aviatrix. She was the first woman to fly alone to Australia. She was killed on January 5, 1941, when she crashed into the Thames estuary and was drowned, a tragic and early end to the life of Britain's most famous woman pilot.
The co-ordinates above will take you to a location where you will see a four-digit number on a plaque. These digits are abcd.
The second location is a short walk away, at N54°06.(d)(a-c)(c) W 000°09.(d*2)(a-d)(a-d). At this location you will be able to see two dates: 19ef – 19gh.
The final cache is in a Tupperware box, in a black bag, at N54°06.(f)(e)(g) W 000°09.(h)(e)(e)
An admission charge to the park is made during the summer months, but it is free from October onwards. Some of the formal parts - such as the walled gardens - are locked at dusk.
