Geocache Description:

The degree of difficulty is rated "3" because clue-gathering is required to calculate co-ordinates.

The cache is in a regular tupperware-type container, the original contents being: deck of cards, glowstick, set of exacto knives, 2004 calendar, a "GEO" sticker, a "GPS" sticker, 2 highlighter pens, pkg of body art temporary tattoos, 2 Canada pins, official log book and pencil.

When locating and replacing the cache, please remember this is a very busy "people area" and there could be several people watching you. Please use discretion when locating and replacing the cache, so that "looky-loos" don't remove the cache after you've left. Thanks!!

This cache is a little different in that you have to work out your own GPS co-ordinates to find the cache. To do that, you have to take a walking tour of downtown Vernon, and its wonderful "MURALS", and collect the clues from the murals along the way. Don't worry.....we've enclosed your route and will help you out as you go. This is an easy and enjoyable walk suitable for all ages, from toddlers to great-grandparents and will probably take you two hours to complete from start to finish, giving you lots of time to stop for a drink or snack along the way, maybe to deek into a store for a little shopping, and just enjoy downtown Vernon.

We will give you two GPS co-ordinates to get you started. The first one will be where you should park your car, and the second will be the location of the first Mural....from then on, you just follow the instructions from Mural to Mural, and fill in the blanks on your questionnaire so you can calculate the co-ords of the cache when you're done your tour. Have fun and ENJOY!

P.S. Don't forget your calculator!!

Park your car near the fountain at the following co-ords:

1. Re-set your GPS to N 50 15.754 W 119 16.410
This will take you to the first Mural - Okanagan/Vernon Steam Laundry and Dry Cleaners - at the corner of Coldstream Avenue and 32nd Street where you'll find clues # 1, 2, and 3.

2. Behind you in the alley you'll see Mural # 2, Okanagan Valley Co-Op Creamery Ass'n. No clue here.

3. From the alley, proceed to the front of the "Steam Laundry" building (at Vernon Graphics) to view Mural # 3. No clue.

4. From here, use the crosswalk to cross 32nd Street (Highway 97) to Mural # 4 - Aviation - where you'll find clues # 4 and 5.

5. When facing Jim and Eldon, go to your left along Coldstream Avenue, cross 33rd Street at the crosswalk, and continue down Coldstream Avenue to your first parking lot on your right for Mural # 5...Canada Fancy Apples. No clue here.

6. Cross the street to Fisher's Hardware for Mural # 6 and clue # 6.

7. Continue westbound along Coldstream Avenue, turning right (north) on 34th Street, walking past the Community Police Office and turning left (west) on 30th Avenue to the Safeway parking lot for Mural # 7 - Passenger and Freight Service on Okanagan Lake - for clues # 7 and 8.

8. Go back (eastbound) along 30th Avenue (where you just came from) on the north side of the street. Continue, crossing over 34th Street, then walk down another block, looking over your right shoulder above the Welkmart for Mural # 8 which was Vernon's 1st mural. No clue.

17. Mural # 17, and your final mural - The Union Jack - has no clue, but to view it (and it's a good one!) go back westbound on 31st Avenue to Cenotaph Park. You will see the mural in the alley.

Finding your car:
Retrace your steps out of the alley after viewing Union Jack and go back to 30th Street. Turn right (south) on 30th Street. When you reach 30th Street and 30th Avenue, turn right (westbound) and enjoy strolling through Vernon's downtown main street. At the corner of 32nd Street and 30th Avenue (at the 3 banks) you are finished your "Mural Tour" and you will now be able to work out the co-ordinates for the cache. Turn left on 32nd Street (Highway 97) and walk south for 3 blocks back to your car. You won't have to move your car to locate the cache.
