A two-stage cache involving 2 small cemeteries of historical significance located along a residential street.
NOTE - this is a decontamination kit container and the lid needs to be snapped on tightly all the way around - especially on the back edge near the hanger loop. If not the interior is likely to get wet (again).
Watch for briars.
Enjoy the history of this old cemetery that goes largely unnoticed but is very well kept up. There are actually 2 Parker cemeteries here. One is the Parker family cemetery and the other is the I. D. Parker Public Cemetery and Homestead.
Please be respectful as you explore the cemeteries and locate the cache which is an olive drab decon container (about the size of two Altoids tins stacked atop one another). The listed coordinates are for the entrance to the cemetery where you’ll find some historical markers which will be important for locating the cache. The cache originally contained a Texas GeoCoin, some map flag pins (useful for planning those extended caching trips), some moist towelettes and a wooden nickel.
Texas GeoCoin placed in this cache.
Stage 1.
At the historical markers determine the year that Cynthia Ann Parker was captured by the Comanches. Also determine the year that Isaac Parker was born. (Not Isaac Duke Parker).
Stage 2.
Using the last 2 digits (18XX) of the year Cynthia Ann was taken captive, add them to the following:
N 32° 48.518 + XX.
Using the last 2 digits of Isaac Parker’s year of birth (17YY) add them to the following:
W 97° 12.176 + YY
These new coordinates will lead you to the cache.
