Scenic drive between George and Wilderness or Knysna, under old historic bridge over Kaaimans River (built 1904)
Next time you drive the Garden Route, why not take the old scenic route through the forest?
This cache is between Wilderness and George, where the old but good condition tarred road crosses over the Kaaimans river.
Directions: From George main road N12 /N9(Courtney St?)take the Saasveld Colledge turnoff and keep going. From Wilderness side, head up to Wildeness Heights (uphill from alongside the main hotel in the village), or go via Hoekwil then head towards George
The cash is alongside the river, a nice place for a picnic.
The original cache was lost (raided?) and Replaced by Bobby Tait, aka marcellomaestro. (Thanks Bobby!). The new cache has been placed in a safer spot, so read the logs before you go!
Bobby had this to say about the new location:
"New directions:
Follow your GPS to the following Co-ordinates: S 33°58.266' E 022°32.865'
Once you reach these co-ordinates, park next to the road.
Follow the little foot path up stream along the river for about 90m (From the car road). You will reach a number of knee high rocks to cross (running from the cliff on your left into the river on your right)
At this point you will see a steep path turning directly to your left (up and into the cliff)
Climb up with this little path (about 5m to 6m climb) To your direct left there is a clear crack into the rocks, the cache is behind a flat stone covering the cache from accidental discovery (stone placed like a door to the cache). If You climb too high (roughly another 1,5m up) you will only reach the top of the rocks with plenty of trees and plants."
