Lactodorum: Rather than keep this cache temporarily disabled (which should only be used for shortish periods) I'm archiving it. If/when the cache is ever replaced I'll gladly unarchive it assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Geocache Description:

Ashton Court is situated on a hill overlooking Bristol. The views are excellent. This multi-cache takes you on a 2 mile walk around the park. There is much to see including the views, woodland walks. A visit to the deer park and an ice cream van towards the end of the walk is recommended. The start of the walk is on forest pathways and there is some moderate uphill towards the end.

Ashton Court in Bristol UK has been a favourite leisure spot for Bristolians for over 40 years since Bristol City Council took over the land (more about this on here). Ashton court hosts several large events including the Balloon and kite festivals, and open air music concerts. Running, golf, Orienteering, cycling and mountain boarding are just some of the sports carried out here. The cache is in several stages. To keep things simple I have made the clues fairly quick to work out. All virtual caches are carefully chosen so that they can be found fairly easily.

The original contents of the cache are:

  • 50 Mini Novelty Erasers
  • Cache Camera
  • Magnetic Ball Sculpture
  • 5 Dice
  • Battery operated fan
  • Bits and bobs

Car parking is located at the cache position.

    Virtual Cache 1: N 51° 26.937 W2° 38.483

    A sign reads:

------- ---- Please keep dog on a lead.
    7016317 5316

Substitute the numbers corresponding to the letters in first word into the location of VC 2

    Virtual Cache 2: N 51° 27.RIL W2° 38.NGZ

According to the sign Wells is 'ab' miles away

using c=a+2 and d=b+4 you should be able to find the next VC.

    Virtual Cache 3: N 51° 26.8c9 W2° 38.2d7

    Sign says:

    --------- Forest Path
    371185611

Find the missing word and substitute the corresponding numbers into the address of VC4.

    Virtual Cache 4: N 51° 26.OTU W2° 38.MNY

The following text is on the sign.

'ab' miles to the South East

Use the two digits to find the 'c' and 'd' where:

    c=a+8 and d=b+2

Substitute 'c' and 'd' into the VC6 location.

(note VC 5 is fully given)

    Virtual Cache 5: N51° 26.692 W2° 38.380

This is a fun spot with a hollow tree which the kids can play in. It's not really a cache, but it takes you in the right direction.

    Virtual Cache 6: N 51° 26.6c7 W2° 38.6d5

Third plinth here. I never new they were there myself until I did this. The deer park is yards away from here, so take a look if you have time. You can read the following on the plinth.

    -------- Smyths View
    72491224
<- Substitute the numbers into the location below!

    And finally the cache N51° 26.GVL W2° 38.ERI
