This cache is an ammo can placed deeper into Fall Creek Park than the nearby Big Ben cache and is in a very peaceful and beautiful spot. I couldn't find any history of Lost Camp but if you can, please mention it in your log. Child friendly, but no dogs (even on leash) or bikes. Park hours are 6:00am - sunset.
The closest parking for this cache is at: 37º 04.225 / 122º 07.464 and your hike will be about 1.3 miles to the cache site. Along the way you will gradually drop about 400 feet but it's a fairly easy hike. Of course it may feel like more on the way back
. For a longer hike check out the IXL cache and follow the instructions for parking from there. You'll hike about 2 miles past IXL and you may want to make sure you have a park map (many online) if you come in this way.
This too is a delicate area, so please be respectful in your search. You will NOT have to trample anything to find it. The rating reflects the fact that you could almost be standing on this one without seeing it. Search smart, thoroughly and gently.
Like the Big Ben cache, if you are stumped or having GPSr trouble (which you probably will) please use the hint to avoid damaging the area. Feel free to post your coords if you like. but this cache could be found without a GPSr by using a park map and the hint.
This is a great spot to stop, relax and have a picnic. You will enjoy the tranquility and the sound of the little stream/creek. Just don't blame me if you fall asleep! It's easy to see why this place is called Lost Camp. You can imagine back when the IXL Limekilns were operational that this was a great spot to set up camp. Take a look 30 feet upstream from the wooden footbridge and you will see a very small spring that feeds this stream.
As with MOST of our caches, there is a FTF prize waiting.....a Geocaching logo window cling .
