This cache has been archived.

offline.cacher: The general rule reviewers use to archive a cache is that the cache owner has been notified (through a log entry) by the reviewer and that no response has been forthcoming. This is the case with this cache. As a result it has been archived.
If the owner would like to discuss this issue, please contact me through my geocaching.com profile. Include the GC code for the cache.

Geocache Description:

A gentle 0.5 mi. trail will lead you to something you wouldn't expect to find amid the pastures and cornfields (when in-season). Bench's along the trail will provide rest, or seating to take in the sights/sounds of what was once a thriving, mining community called German Town. Once at the terminus of the trail, the cache is about 100 ft. past the pavilion/gazebo. The woods are remarkably clear here, with NO bushwhacking required.

Bring your picnic lunch, kids, dogs, GrandMa, or whomever, to this park in Fauquier Co., VA, off Germantown Rd. If you go too fast, or are not observant, you will BLOW right by this one. Most county residents don't even know this park exists. Fauquier Co. established this park to commemorate the birthplace of John Marshall. Limited parking is provided at N38 36.029, W077 42.934, so on weekends, picnickers may take all spaces. You can park up the road at the farm, where the decorated silo is, but be careful walking the road and crossing the RR trax.

This is the first Geocache I've hidden, and I took my time putting it together and hiding it. I tried to take the lessons learned from finding almost 50 caches, before I placed my first. It is now a DECON box, completely coated in camo-tape. There is not much room in the container, so bring only small items for trade (keychains, coins, pins, etc.). There is an increasing number of Geocaches in Fauquier Co., and this is the first that is centrally located. I plan on placing some hides around the more populated areas/parks in the Co., and I need folks to give me feedback, so I can always improve.

Along your travel on the path, you will be exposed to planes (overhead, as there is a nearby busy airport), trains (CSX has a very busy rail near the cache), and automobiles (nearby Midland Rd., and Rt. 28). No boats are nearby, but as you progress down the trail, you will see that someone attempted to drive an old car across the stream on your left. Can someone identify the make/model/year of the car?? Cows can be heard moo-ing to your left as you progress down the path, with cornfields (in season) to the right. Very little damage occurred from Isabel at this park. Cache in, trash out would be helpful, even though Fauquier Co. does a pretty good job maintaining this park. ENJOY, and tell me what you think of my first cache!

NOTE: People do hunt nearby, so wear an orange vest and/or hat during those seasons.
