Near the Saco River in Maine, placed in honor of my nephew Gareth's birthday; also, his first cache experience.
I was in Maine on vacation and hit a couple of caches, on a spur of the moment we (myself, my wife, my mom, Gareth and his mom and dad) decided to put out a cache. We went for a walk in the Maine woods, which are so very different from the woods back home in California. Lots of warm weather swimming spots, fishing and canoe/kayaking spots abound in the immediate area.
The terrain is not steep, for the most part, but there are a couple of short uphills and downed trees to clamber over. During the wet months the path is fairly muddy, so wear good boots; when it is dry out, so is the path. The surface is unimproved and really not appropriate for strollers or other wheeled things... bicycles will have difficulties because of trail blockages and leaf cover. You can reach the cache from the nearest parking in about 10 minutes walking.
The cache is a 1 quart mason jar. The original contents were: a pen, log sheets, a multicolored pencil, some penny racers, a kush ball and Rudy the Travel Bug (some items from me, some from Gareth's Grandma).
P.S.: I have located this 'lost' cache and have adopted it from Mr. Ranger. Enjoy!
