The cache is located in an area of year-round recreation. This is the starting point for an extensive system of well-groomed trails for hiking, mountain biking, and (in the winter) skiing and snowshoeing. The nearby Tie City Campground is open only during summer months. One of our favorite times of year to visit is early to mid-July, when wild raspberries and strawberries grow in small patches around the campground.

Getting There: Take the Lincoln Monument exit off I-80. Turn left toward Happy Jack Recreation Area. The cache is located near the Tie City campground.
Parking: The paved parking lot requires a Forest Service or Daily Pass. However, you can park for free in an open area just across the road.
Seasons: The main road and parking area are well-plowed, and the cache is not far from either. You may be able to find this one year-round (but it might take snowshoes and a shovel some months).
