How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
The Cache is located in the 13th district in the southwest of Vienna. It´s in the popular recreation-area "Lainzer Tiergarten" a former hunting ground of the emperor.
This cache is the first one of two caches in this area and the easier one. (See also "Lainzer Tiergarten II".)
Details about the area can be found at:
You can reach the cache area by public transport. Take the U4 direction "Hütteldorf" till "Hietzing", and there you take the tram 60 direction "Rodaun" till "Hermesstraße". There you take the bus 60 B till "Lainzer Tor". Those coming by car, can park close to "Lainzer Tor" (N 48° 10.004´, E 016° 15.409´).
The trail is most of it`s length a gravel walk. Strollers can be used. Only the very last meters before the cache you have to leave the way. No special equipment is needed. Length: 3 km, Difference in Height: 15 m. Opening hours: In difference to the big area of Lainzer Tiergarten this part is open for public every day at least 9 to 5 (depending on the season. See notice at the door!)
NB: The above difficulty and terrain rating was done with the program from geocaching.com. To be internationally comparable I`m using this result. (See the discussion in the forum also.) My personal opinion is a rating of 1.5 stars for difficulty and 2 stars for terrain.
The cache initially contains: (small container)

- logbook (please don´t remove)
- pencil (please don´t remove)

After you've found this cache please rate it at GCVote!
The average rating of this cache is stars of five. (One star is bad, 5 stars are excellent)
