In Happy Camp Canyon
Note brush has grown since the fire, so wear long pants/shirt sleeves to find this one, and be prepared to struggle through non-native weeds. Trailhead is at the east/dead end of Broadway, east of the 23, about 4 miles north of Moorpark. Where the 23 makes a 90 degree turn left, you turn right and go 1/3 mile to parking area. RT hike or bike is about 5 miles. Happy Camp Canyon is a wild place, which is why it's a favorite of mine. This cache replaces at least 3 that were burned in the Simi Fire in 2003. Ammo can cache is about 150 yards off the main (lower) road, near the spring/oak grove area. The attached dead wildlife photos (bear and weasel) are pretty gruesome - viewer discretion definitely advised. Found the sleepy mouse in a rock pile surrounded by....nothing...everything had burned around it.
