Squeamish 1000 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Squeamish: Given the low demand for this cache and the fact that the area floods annually and will remove the cache with the flood, I have decided to archive this cache. It's sad to see it go, but it's served its purpose well. Thanks to everybody that found the cache and its seeds!!

Geocache Description:

My find count is rapidly approaching 1000 finds. Naturally, it’s fitting to do a really challenging cache for a large round number find, like 1000. I was thinking about different ideas or caches that I could find, and settled upon this idea. It’s a multi-seed cache, where any geocacher who wants to finds the parent cache, take seeds, and places them in various challenging locations around town.

Update (28Oct04): Since the seed caches have now been out for almost a year, and some may be missing or hidden in an "impossible" place for lack of a better word, from this point forward you only need to find at least 5 of the 8 seed caches in order to log this (the parent cache) as a find. Note 01Aug05: 6 of the 9 seed caches updated to 5 of the 8 after Seeds of Hope was archived.

In order to log this cache as a find, you must find the parent cache, and at least 6 of the 9 seed caches. The reason that all but one is allowed is in case a few have gone missing, or happen to be in an “impossible” location, for lack of a better word. I haven't been keeping up with which have been found recently, but still encourage you to find all the seed caches.

There are 9 seed caches. You MAY log each seed as a separate find. Links to all the seed caches follow, arranged in an approximate geographic order from (north)west to (south)east.

Whispering Pines by woody62:
Not posted as a separate geocache. (I also gave this as an option to seed placers.) Located at 42º23.294'N 092º13.315'W. The following description is from woody62:
Located in Cedar River Access Area. Both the terrain and difficulty are about 1-1/2 stars. I have done a lot of hunting and fishing in this park. This is a hunting area so precautions should be taken during season. Park anywhere you like but DO NOT DRIVE BEYOND ANY GATES AS YOU MAY GET LOCKED IN. When you near the cache area beware of the "puckerbrush". Please replace cache as found. Cache contains logbook, crystal keychain, rubber superball, and Oreo cookieman toy. No hints needed.

Note: Saladman has taken a seed but I haven't seen it appear yet. If and when this seed appears, it will be added to this listing. Other than that, if there are any remaining seeds in the parent cache, you are still welcome to take and place them, but they will not be included in Squeamish 1000.

To explain the finds logged already (before Dec. 7), seed placers were allowed to log the parent cache as a find if they placed one or more seeds.

Because of the long amount of text in some of the seed cache descriptions, contrary to what I said before I will not be posting all the descriptions in the parent description. There just isn't enough room. :)

When finding the parent cache, if your route takes you over a bridge, WATCH YOUR STEP!!!! You’ll see why.

Please be careful when opening the Ziploc containers. They will crack easily.

Thanks to all who have placed a seed!
