We hid this cache to celebrate our 500th find. It has a 500 theme in the sense that you start at the home of the Indianapolis 500, visit an area associated with the Indy 500, and then go to another area in Speedway. There you will park and go to the final cache. For stop #1 the gates are open 9-5 every day except Christmas day.
The coordinates given are for the first stop - no admission charge as long as there's not a race, qualifications, or practice on the day you do the cache. You will be driving to the first 2 caches and then parking and walking about .10 mile to the final cache. The first stop is an historical marker. You need to note which race NUMBER is on the marker, not the date of the race. Second cache is located at - N39.46.0(race # minus 17)W086.14.0(race # plus 10)At the second stop, note the address on a stone encased mailbox. Third cache parking is located at N39 47.383 W086 15.960. Walk along the levee a little bit. If there is water in the floodplain, forget the cache, it will be under water! Try again later. Coordinates for the third cache (which is an ammo can) is N39.47.(194 plus the address on the mailbox) W086.16.0 (minus 104 from the address on the mailbox). Be sure to check out the old railroad bridge abutments across Eagle Creek just south of the cache site. We hope all of you that have given us so many fun caches will enjoy this one.
