UCSD Art - Coin Collection Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Decent walk in a bautiful UCSD campus.

The content of the cache is coin collection in the small plastic container. Please, take any coin only if you can put in another coin. And, please, avoid US currency minted after 1960. (Nobody collects that – well some people do, but this cache would not help them.) And bring your own pen, there is nothing but coins and log in the cache – it would not fit.

This multi step cache will lead you to some sculptures and art pieces in the UCSD campus. (One of the most beautiful campuses in the whole world.) If you are seriously interested in the art, you should visit The Stuart Collection – either as a separate virtual cache GCE3D4 – or you can combine both caches. (Our cache covers only six items from the Stuart Collection.) Be ready to walk a little – the shortest way to do the whole trip is 5.4 km. The best place to start is at N32 52.715 W117 14.185. You can park there for free during weekends. During weekdays the area is pretty busy and finding parking is tricky. It may seem like a short detour, but, trust me, it is the best place to start if you want to find the cache in the same day. (This is actually a hint.) Some locations are defined by the distance and bearing from the previous location – so, if your GPS does not support this option, bring a compass. (And remember, you cannot walk directly in the given direction - but you can always check the bearing backwards - well, different number - after walking specified distance.) Each location will give you a number. You will need all numbers to get the coordinates to the cache. Hint – if your result is not an integer, or if it is a negative number, something is not right. Part of the challenge is to figure out what the question is about - however, it is always the most obvious one. Some spoilers are available at www.5z.com/gallery/ucsdgeo.
