This is a cache to remember Sidney Salmon who was part of the
Canadian Forces who fought in WWI in this area. The Bois near town
of Moreuil was the scene of many battles during March and April of
1918. The Canadian forces pushed the German advance back many
times. The Strathcona Horse Regiment was located near here, in an
area known as Bois de Senecat. While moving north, shelling killed
several people, one of them was Sidney Salmon (brother of my
grandmother). He was only 21.
He has no grave, but his name is on the Vimy Ridge Memorial, a
prominent WW1 memorial near the town of Vimy. See his picture on
the Virtual Memorial:

The cache is a small plastic jar, containing a variety of small
items and a log book. Please ensure it is not visible when you
replace it.
Note on cache maintenance: as my brother has
recently moved to the town of Moreuil about 10km from the cache
location. I was there helping him get moved in. He's not a
Geocacher, but helped me place it, so will look after
it.
