Access to the trailhead is on Pine Creek Rd which is off of 107 between Cashiers/Glenville and Sylva/Cullowhee, NC. This is a multi-cache; the listed coordinates are for the parking lot. Use information from the obvious trailhead sign board to calculate where you need to go. Once you get to that specific spot then letterbox-like clues will lead you to the physical cache.
You need to get to N 35° 12.AB8 W 083° 09.CD3:
A = the total number of times the letter "H" makes an appearance in the two bottom lines of text
B = the most common digit in the two bottom lines of text
C = the number of L's PLUS the number of E's in the two bottom lines of text
D = the first digit in the two bottom lines of text
CHECKSUM: A + B + C + D = XY; X + Y = 6
The trail to the falls goes down. A lot. At the end of the trail -- the calculated coordinates -- you should cross the river and then go all the way to the opposite cliff wall of the canyon. [See the two photos loaded to the cache page for guidance on where to go.] Once you have clambered up and are at the base of the cliff wall, follow the base of the cliff wall to the left. There is a decent "path" so you shouldn't have to think too much. You will eventually see pink survey tape. (The pink survey tape you might see at the calculated coords is NOT the pick survey tape you are looking for.) You will be within 10 yards of the cache at the cliff wall pink tape. The final cache clue may be needed. Good luck finding the cache!
Be aware that on seven days in 2017 this cache will be inaccessible due to Duke Power releasing water from Lake Glenville. The views of the waterfall in full flow will be amazing, but it will be impossible to cross the river on those seven days. [April 8, April 9, June 10, July 1, July 22, August 12, August 26]
My family really enjoys this area. I hope you do too! (We have always called the area Cullowhee Falls and originally used the same name for the cache. But since the name for the falls is really High Falls I changed the cache name. You are looking for a medium-sized Lock&Lock container. Enjoy!
