Cache-tech: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have had no contact with the cache owner since my last note and there has been no notes posted to the cache page in that time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache.
When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link (Mine) across the top and then click on this cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
Cache-tech

Geocache Description:

A short multi in a well-visited area

This is our first cache (meaning me and GeoKid45). Comments about location and rating are welcome. The overall distance is very short (380m) but involves projection, ergo the difficulty rating. (Deviation for this area is 14W). This cache is winter-friendly.

The coordinates above (averaged over 8 readings with 6 meter accuracy on an eTrex Legend.) will place you at the first waypoint where you must find a small silver tag containing a four digit number.

To reach the next waypoint (a very obvious structure) use the following:

  • The (true) bearing is 3 times the tag number
  • The distance is the bearing plus the digital root of the tag number. (Those of you that are mathematically inclined will realize you won’t need a calculator for this one.)

At the second waypoint, from a plate on the west end of the structure take the first digit of the first engraved number, and the last two digits of the last engraved number to make a three-digit number. This is the distance and bearing (magnetic) to the cache.

The cache is in a VERY popular area for cycling, jogging and dog-walking and is not far off the path, therefore use Geocacher stealth.

At the time of placement, the cache contents were:

  • GeoCoin #1494
  • 3 key chains (carabineer light/keychain, Nova Scotia, Mini-E6B)
  • Mini clip
  • Diefenbunker medallion
  • Fridge magnet
  • Rubber popper
  • Mini car
  • Safety flasher
  • Hand buzzer
  • Voice-memo pen
  • Labyrinth puzzle
  • Glade plug-in
  • Deck of cards
  • Blank CD-R
  • Pencil (besides the log pencil)
  • Puck
  • Blue Jays sunglasses
  • Time to Cache TB

The digital root of a number is determined by adding up the digits of a number to obtain a sum. Then add up the digits of the sum. Repeat adding the sum digits until the sum is a single digit number.
