Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small, clear 6x9 container with a blue lid. Cache was stocked with a few goodies.

The Scott County Veterans Memorial Park:

"The park is located on Hwy 72 near Fort Blackmore and just before the Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Clinch River. An M-60 tank stands at the center of the memorial. The memorial lists the names of Scott County soldiers who died during World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Members of the VFW Post No. 10611 and the American Legion Post No. 265 built this memorial park."

Some information on the M60:

The M60A3 'Patton' battle tank: First built in the 1960s, this tank weighs 58 tons. The M60 was equipped with a 105-mm M68 rifled gun and 63 rounds of ammunition. With a Continental AVDS-1790-2C 12 cylinder air-cooled diesel engine, the tank was capable of a cross-country speed of 10 to 12 mph and up to 30 mph road speed. The cruise range is 312 miles.

The M60A3 series battle tank was in service from 1978 through Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

Another outstanding place to stop and reflect. Let us not forgot those who died for our freedom.

Also a good place to cache-in-trash-out, you may even find some brass shell casing if you look !

...and as Geocacher honeychile says: "NOTE AND DISCLAIMER: This cache is hidden in the great outdoors. Welcome to the South! We've got skeeters; we've got chiggers; we've got ticks; we've got ants; we've got snakes and other critters; we've got poison ivy, oak, and sumac; we've got mold and allergens; we've got kudzu and other pesky vines; and boy, have we got briars, brambles, and stickers! Depending on the place you elect to enter the off-trail portion of the hunt, you may very well find these and other denizens of our environment. Please dress accordingly and take adequate precautions whenever you interact with nature. And don't forget to cache in, trash out. "
