Silver Spider Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Commander Bob: After consideration of several issues, I've decided to archive the Spider. This was my very first cache, and it's a decision I make with a heavy heart. I enjoyed reading the logs of those "real" cachers, and the adventures many of them had. Lets face it, you have to be caching for the love of the sport, if you're doing an eight stage multi that takes you over 2 miles and 2 water crossings. One of the reasons, besides the final getting muggled, is the fact that the park charges admission 7 days a week now. When the cache was first placed, there were free days, so it wasn't neccessary to pay. This, coupled with the fact that it is an extensive multi, has kept the visitor total rather low. So it is with much sadness that I bid farewell to the Silver Spider. I will try to keep Spiders Web going for as long as possible though. It is the last of at least 5 caches that were once located in this great park.

Geocache Description:

Located in Silver Lake County Park. Entrance is off Hwy F. Recommended parking is at N42°33.453 W088°08.665 Summer season (Memorial Day thru Labor Day) requires an entrance fee from 7AM until 5:30PM. The rest of the year there is no fee. Park hours are 7AM to 10PM. Dogs are permitted everywhere except the beach area.

This is an eight stage multi cache located in one of our favorite local county parks. The first seven stages are small waterproof match containers wrapped in camo tape. Inside each is the coordinates for the next stage. Most stages are a short distance off the main trails. Total distance for the entire route is about 2 miles. The final cache is a large ammo box with lots of trade items in it. There is a disposable camera to record your team’s smiling faces, or tired frowns. Please take care to rehide the box completely as this is a very popular area. The hint below is for the first stage, the other hints are included in each stage.
