This cache offers the opportunity of a small hike in the middle of Johannesburg. It is positioned in a very scenic area adjoining the Melville Koppies. Over a weekend, the chache offers a perfect opportunity for a morning or an afternoon hike...beware though... getting to the spot requires perserverence and preferably good boots.
The cache is placed adjoining the Melville Koppies nature reserve. It is positioned in pretty much the highest spot in the area. There are many ways to get to it. Parking of the car may be a problem. One of the ways to get there is to leave your car at Marks Park sporting parking lot and walk, although I have seen cars parking right at the entrance to the area at the corner of DF Malan(Beyers Naudee) Rd and Judith Rds.
The area itself is criss-crossed with paths (not necesarily clear at all times) and over weekends it is full of joggers, hikers, dogwalkers and Zionists.
The spot itself is a bit of a "daaah" spot for a geocache (see hint for that), but it is at the highest natural altitude in the area.
NOW READ THIS AS YOU WON'T FIND THE CACHE CONTAINER OTHERWISE: The cache container is about one step (about 1m) away from the spot itself underneath a ROCK.
The container is a plastic "lunchbox" containing the standard Geochaing greeting, my speciality - a poem, and a voucher for a well known shopping chain for the first comer, and some other bits and pieces, all in a plastic bag.
