An ascent for fine views over the Firth of Forth
This and three other caches (Hopetoun Monument, Aberlady Bay and the Bonus Cache) form the East Lothian Quartet. As well as logging your find at each cache, take a note of the part coordinates for the Bonus Cache from the laminated card. Please DO NOT remove the card.
Berwick Law is a distinctive feature of this part of East Lothian. It is 615.6 feet high and is a volcanic plug dating back 335 million years ago. The cache is not far from the top of the Law, and it’s worth going all the way to the top for the views and to bag the trigpoint and earthcache if you wish.
Also at the top is a whale jawbone, originally from a Dunbar whaling ship, which was replaced in 1936. Update: The whale jawbone was been removed for safety reasons, but a replacement has been erected.
