This cache is located in the Red Rock conservation area. Sitting at an altitude of 5280 ft. provides a nice cool escape from the hot desert floor during the summer months. Winter months expect crisp temperatures in the 40's. The cache itself is located only a few hundred feet from an unmaintainded road. This road has a few rough spots so high clearance or 4x4 is recommended. My 2WD durango made it easily.
Directions: Take Carleston exit from either the I-15 or HW-215 and proceed up the hill to the Red Rock Visitor's Center. There is a small $5 entrance fee for the park. I suggest buying the Anual Pass for $20 if you plan to retun a few times. There are several caches in this park which make it ideal for those who like a "full day of adventure".
After entering the park, go to the Willow Springs parking lot and locate the dirt road leading into the valley. You can park at WTP N36 09.297 W115 31.250 which is very close to the cache site. After an easy scamper down into the valley, you will be looking for a small amo container, painted the standard olive drab. When placed, the cache contained the following:
