Järnbruket i Åryd grundades i mitten av 1600-talet av holländaren Arnold De Rees (1612-1688) som också var verksam på Huseby Bruk. Bruket hade sin storhetstid under senare hälften av 1700-talet och förra hälften av 1800-talet. Tillverkningen upphörde vid slutet av 1880-talet och 1898 ströks bruket ur Kommerskollegiets lista över järnverk. Gömman är en cylindrisk plastburk med skruvkork. Innehållet är loggbok och penna.
The iron works in Åryd was established in the mid-17:th century by the Dutch Arnold De Rees (1612-1688) who also were involved at Huseby iron works. The iron works flourished in the late 18:th and first half of the 19:th century. Production was ceased in the 1880’s. The cache is small cylindrical canister with a screw cap. The content is a logbook and pencil.
