Red Mountain, mountain bike trails
Located in the Tonto National Forest is an area dedicated to mountain bike trails. These trails also make interesting hiking trails. One such trail is the "Mine Trail" described in the Az. Mountain Bike Trail Guide as "wicked rough terrain, high speed and big drops - careful around old mines". The cache (a plastic container3x5x3) is hidden along this trail. The terrain rating of 3.5 deserves it _ there is an elevation gain of 275 feet from the parking area N33 31.035 W 111 40.453 to the cache. You will earn this cache and the great birds eye view of the Salt River valley and RED MOUNTAIN.
Bikers have the right of way on these trails - please do not impede them while you are in the area. The trail starts across the road from the parking area begining at the West end of the guard rail.The trail starts out as#54 (Granit Trail). When you meet Trail #50 ( Saguraro Trail) go Left up the hill.
