Geocache Description:

This cache is the third in a series of caches we have placed and all have a spooky or strange story to tell.

One of Cornwall`s most celebrated ghosts is Charlotte Dymond, found viciously murdered on the slopes of Roughtor near Camelford on Sunday 14th April 1844. Her lover, a crippled farmhand called Matthew Weeks was later hanged at Bodmin Gaol for the crime although it seems doubtful he committed it. Since that time, and especially on the anniversary of her death, there have been reports of Charlotte walking in the area, clad in a gown, red shawl and a silk bonnet. A memorial stone marks the site of her murder. The story has also been immortalised in "The Ballard of Charlotte Dymond", by Cornish poet Charles Causley.

This cache is a 3 litre tupperware container and is very easy to find (you may not even need a GPS unit!) It is hidden a stones throw from the Memorial, and is more or less where Charlotte's body was discovered. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMEND... that you try this cache either first thing or later on during the day as the area gets VERY busy especially during the summer. Please be discreet when there are Muggles around. Free parking is available at these coordinates: N50 36.419 W004 37.950.
