Space Monkey (Gallon House) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Homerz: This cache has disappeared yet again. We're going to give up on this hiding spot, as far as Team Homerz goes, but will make the spot available for someone to make a hide. This is a pretty spot and deserves a great hide, but the next cache will need to be at a different location than the one we chose. This spot is popular with the locals for warm-weather water play so our cache has disappeared three times. Good luck to anyone who wishes to use this spot for cache placement and goodbye to one of the most mysteriously-named caches we've placed.

Geocache Description:

You will be looking for a plastic peanut butter jar, wrapped in camo duct tape. This is a replacement to the original container which was muggled.

This cache should bring you to a nice spot for a picnic, to cast a fly or two, to dangle your tootsies in the summer or would be a nice destination for photographers any time of the year.

There is parking for about three cars on one end of the bridge, but we aware: if you choose to get out and walk inside to check out the timber-frame construction, there is NO PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY inside.

Let the kids and dogs play in the grassy area nearby, but not inside the bridge, please. When we placed this cache, two cars came through; one with caution and one flying by. Be careful on the roadway.

GALLON HOUSE BRIDGE is Oregon's oldest covered bridge, built in 1916-17. It crosses Abiqua Creek. It was named for the days when liquor was sold by the gallon or quart in a nearby house. The bridge was rebuilt in 1990.
