This cache should bring you to a nice spot for a picnic, to cast a
fly or two, to dangle your tootsies in the summer or would be a
nice destination for photographers any time of the year.
There is parking for about three cars on one end of the bridge,
but we aware: if you choose to get out and walk inside to check out
the timber-frame construction, there is NO PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY
inside.
Let the kids and dogs play in the grassy area nearby, but not
inside the bridge, please. When we placed this cache, two cars came
through; one with caution and one flying by. Be careful on the
roadway.
GALLON HOUSE BRIDGE is Oregon's oldest covered bridge, built in
1916-17. It crosses Abiqua Creek. It was named for the days when
liquor was sold by the gallon or quart in a nearby house. The
bridge was rebuilt in 1990.
