Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the old Boston/Maine RR bed in Mason, NH. Park at the Jct of Pratt Pond Road and the RR bed or at the Jct of the RR bed and Wilton Rd. Elevation 593’

Between Old Cellarhole, and Old Cellarhole II, there are 2 caches within easy reach of each other.

This is a traditional cache, easy to find and historically interesting. The site is the northern end of the old Mason Quarry operation, and is a cellar hole for one of the old Railroad “linehouses”.

From the Jct of Pratt Pond Rd and the RR bed, walk southerly a fairly short distance. The cellarhole is on the left.

If you continue down the trail after “bagging” this cache, you enter mega moose country. After crossing Wilton, Russell and Sandpit Roads, where the trail is open and straight, you can turn sharp right, climb roughly over the height of land, and approach the other Old Cellar Hole cache.

Watch for Moose! I’ve seen them several times in this area.
