Just Off The Greenbelt Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

West Texas Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If the owner wishes to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future (not to exceed 15 days from the date of this entry), just contact me (by e-mail), and assuming it still meets the current Guidelines, I will consider unarchiving this cache.

Please be advised this is not a guarantee that this geocache will be unarchived. Many factors will go into my decision. The most important of which is how you responded to geocachers who tried to communicate with you regarding the problem(s) with this geocache hide and how you communicated with me, the West Texas Reviewer.

Geocache Description:

The original cache owner grew up in this subdivision and played in these woods as a child. It seems that the woods have grown up, too -- in an evil sort of way.

The cache rests a mere couple hundred feet off a nice wide greenbelt (a rather nebulous phrase that usually signifies a pipeline right-of-way masked as a jogging/biking/dog walking trail).

The best parking is behind the Oak Creek Village tennis courts and swimming pool at Gladeridge and Gladebrook.

Depending on recent rains, the standing water won't be much trouble for seasoned cachers; that's what waterproof boots are for, right?

The trouble lies with the small thorns. And the larger thorns. And of course the Giant Mutant Thorns. Luckily, there are a lot less now than when we first arrived to hide the cache. It seems half of them hitched a ride back to Beaumont with us. After a couple of cachers pass through they'll probably all be gone...

When you manage to reach the cache site you'll find a large ammo can chock full o' swag. There's really no reason to waste time rehiding the cache under sticks or pine needles. The thorns will keep anyone but the most dedicated cachers from getting close enough to spot the container.

Then you have to get back out to the greenbelt, of course. You may want to let someone know your planned whereabouts so they can send in a squad of machete-wielding rescuers if they don't hear from you for a while.
