Geocache Description:

Before the VTA, there was the Peninsular Railway.

When you drive by light rail construction in the valley these days, remember that we are just putting back something we once had...

This is the old Los Altos Station on the Peninsular Railway. The trolleys used to run local passengers from Mayfield (now part of Palo Alto) down to Los Gatos, with branches into Saratoga and San Jose (the "new" Vasona extention on the light rail is a part of this old system). It ran from about 1910 to 1933.

There are few remaining relics from the Peninsular Railway in the valley, and this is one of the best preserved (and fitting, somehow, that it is an antique store!).

The cache is magnetic. The best time to search would be before the store opens at noon Tue-Sat.
