Geocache Description:

THE LISTED COORDINATES ARE BOGUS.

This cache was placed on the anniversary of the fall of the Alamo on March 6, 1836, and activated the weekend that the new movie depicting the Battle of Alamo opened across the country - and honors all the brave men who fought and died there, including my great-great-great-great grand-uncle Davy Crockett. The Alamo defenders withstood a 13-day siege by the Mexican troops commanded by General Antonio López de Santa Anna, but eventually, all of the armed Texan men were killed. Only a handful of women and children (and one slave) were spared.

The coordinates for this cache will take you to the Chappell Hill Masonic Cemetery, where several descendants of the Alamo soldiers are buried. You will need to visit two gravesites there as part of the quiz below in order to find the cache container (which is located very near the Cemetery).

The listed coordinates for this cache will bring you to the graves of Charles Edward Travis, and his sister Susan Isabella Grissett - the two children of Col. William Barrett Travis. His last messages went out from the Alamo on March 3, and included a plea to David Ayres of Montville, Washington County, who was entrusted with the care of Charles Edward. In part, the letter read;

"Take care of my little boy. If the country should be saved I may make him a splendid fortune. But if this country should be lost and I should perish, he will have nothing but the proud recollection that he is the son of a man who died for his country."

After his father's death, Charles Edward was sent to live with his mother, Rosanna, and step-father, Dr. Samuel B. Cloud, in New Orleans. When both passed away in 1848, the 19-year-old Charles Edward moved to Washington County Texas to live with his sister. Travis became a lawyer, served in the Texas Legislature in 1853, served as a Captain in the Texas Rangers, and as Captain in the Second United States Cavalry. After his discharge in 1856, Travis returned to his sisters home in Washington County, where he died at age 31, of tuberculosis, in 1860.

E) On the back of the tall, grey stone monument erected by the Masons next to Charles' grave , what is the number following "A.L."?
    1) 6000
    2) 6010
    3) 6025
    4) 6050

Next, go the following coordinates: N 30° 09.218/W 096° 15.632, which will bring you to a fenced grouping of relatives of Davy Crockett, another Alamo defender (and my relative as well!).

F) How many grave markers inside this little fence have the name "Crockett" on them? (only count each marker once)

     2) 3
     3) 4
     4) 5

Also PLEASE be sure and put it back exactly as you found it, so that the cache is carefully concealed from muggles.
